Formed in 2017 in Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington), Heavy Chest came to life when lead singer and songwriter Andre met drummer Josh Brown during their shared song production sessions. Bassist Phoebe Johnson is the most recent member to join the band but instantly injected key harmonies and complex basslines into their live performances. Together, they have evolved into a captivating force on stage, creating a dynamic and memorable musical experience.

The spine-tingling experience has taken the windy city by storm. Starting up in 2018, the act’s debut at Caroline took the town by surprise – and now this Roots, Soul, Reggae & Hip-Hop band are seriously turning up the heat in the music scene of Aotearoa, and doing it with a Kaupapa Māori twist.
